Registered Intermediary

The Ministry of Justice Witness Intermediary Scheme was created in 2004 to assist young witnesses to provide their account to police and to support them being able to actively participate in trials.

The scheme has grown and developed over the last 20 years. Prosecution witnesses no longer need a diagnosis to access support. The scheme has flourished to encompass any individual who is vulnerable in the context of the police interview / investigation and the trial process.
